Apollo 11

Apollo 17

The final mission of the Apollo program. Gene Cernan remains the last human to walk on the Moon. Brought back 110 kg of samples.

Next Era ARTEMIS PROGRAM

Nov 2022 (Actual)

Artemis I

Successful uncrewed flight test of the SLS (Space Launch System) rocket and Orion spacecraft around the moon. Traveled 2.1 million kilometers.

Sept 2026 (New Target)

Artemis II

Will be the first crewed flight test of the SLS around the Moon. NASA officially delayed this mission from late 2025 to 2026 to ensure systems safety.

Sept 2027 (Target)

Artemis III

The historic return to the surface. Landing the first humans to explore the region near the Lunar South Pole.

2028 - 2030

Artemis IV - Lunar Gateway

Deployment of the orbital habitat. Artemis IV will be the first mission to dock with the Gateway station in lunar orbit. First lunar space station, a larger, more powerful version of the SLS rocket, and new mobile launcher.
